Responsible Richard’s Pick of the Week!
We
have a new friend in our classroom! He is an adorable pack rat named
Responsible Richard. Each week he will be on the lookout for a responsible
student that is showing kind, respectful behavior. He will tell me his “pick”
and that student will become Richard’s Pick of the Week! Every child will have
an opportunity to be Richard’s Pick. When your child is chosen they will get to
sit with Richard on our special bean bag chair when we are all on the rug, have
an All About Me poster displayed, and have the opportunity to share a special
item every day. Classmates will create a star with a compliment about the Pick
of the Week and these will also be displayed in our room all week long.
Posters
will be distributed to each child. They will be asked to decorate the poster and
return them to school as soon as possible. Students can use pictures, craft
items, markers, crayons or whatever material they choose to design the poster.
Please use the distributed poster board for uniformity. Posters should include
the student’s name, a drawing of themselves, as well as pictures/names of
interests, hobbies, and favorite things. During your child’s special week they
will be asked to bring in 1 item each day to share with the class. The purpose
of this activity is to help classmates get to know one another, build
self-confidence when speaking in front of a group, and to help each child feel
special. They should be ready to tell the class about the things that were
brought in; where they got them, what they use them for, or why their items are
so special. Parents, please encourage your child to bring in a variety of items
to help us all get to know your child a little better. Items should reflect a variety
of interests such as sports, hobbies, or family moments.
Examples
of items include:
·
Trophy or ribbon
for first or second place in a special event
·
Souvenirs from a
vacation spot the child may have visited
·
A special gift from
a family member
·
An item your child
has created
Responsible
Richard is very excited to spend a special week with each student in 3B and
looks forward to meeting all parents at Open House!
