About Mrs. Ferullo

Hello! My Name is Rachel Ferullo, I am a third grade teacher at Blessed Sacrament School.  I am recently married and am currently living in Braintree with my husband and puppy, Pilau! I am originally from Sagamore Beach, not far from the Sagamore Bridge. I love the Cape and spend my summers there with my family. I love everything about the beach and ocean and enjoy many summer days relaxing on the beach while getting lost in a good book.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher at the early age of three! I remember relentlessly begging my siblings to play school and gleefully teaching a roomful of dolls, along with a reluctant little brother, the ABC’s. There was no doubt in my mind when I enrolled in the Elementary Education program at Saint Joseph's College of Maine. It is a small school near Portland right on the shore of beautiful Sebago Lake! I did my student teaching in 4th grade which solidified my belief that teaching was my passion.

Post graduation in 2010, I immediately went on to receive my Master of Education with an Emphasis in Special Education at Chaminade University of Honolulu. After spending four year's worth of winters in Maine, it was time for some sunshine!

Prior to my start at BSS I decided to do some traveling and volunteering, receiving the opportunity to teach English for a couple months in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I taught college students who were receiving the opportunity to attend school as part of a Catholic foundation. I also was able to spend a few days a week teaching and helping out in a local orphanage. This experience sparked a new passion in me and since then have  taken 3 other missionary trips. In the summer of 2016, I volunteered at a local elementary school in Arusha, Tanzania  Last year, I was blessed with the opportunity to answer a strong calling to volunteer with the Sisters of Charity in Kolkata, India.  As part of the same trip, I had the amazing chance to live and work at an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. The lessons and memories from these experiences have been life-changing as both an individual and a Catholic school educator. Every year, I enjoy sharing photos and memories theses special trips with my students.

After Vietnam, I began my teaching career working as a Building Assistant in Wellesley Public Schools. There, I provided academic aid to students in grades K-5. After a year of observing and learning from a group of wonderful teachers, I felt ready and excited to have a classroom of my own.

After growing up attending Catholic schools and continuing the tradition through graduate school, I was very lucky to receive my first teaching job at Blessed Sacrament School.  This marks my seventh year teaching third grade at BSS and I am so excited for the start of a new year!
