I am excited to share in the celebration of your child’s birthday! I
invite you to participate in the “Birthday Book Program” where your child
“TREATS” the classroom to a book on his/her birthday.
To participate, please select a new or gently used picture book or very short
chapter book, wrap it (optional) and send it to school with your child on his/her birthday.
Your child will unwrap the book, sit in special chair, and enjoy as I read
the book to the class. After, if donated, we will then put the book into our Birthday
Book Basket for everyone to enjoy. On the inside cover I will put a picture of
your child holding his/her book and the date of his/her birthday.
This is a wonderful way to promote reading as we celebrate
birthdays! The books in the Birthday Book Basket are available for everyone to
read this year and in the following years.
I know the birthday books will be some of the most popular reading
books during reading time. The children will love to share the books and will
be so excited to see their pictures inside the cover.
Birthdays are a very exciting part of your child’s life and so is the
gift of reading. Please keep in mind that a treat is gone within minutes, while
a book lasts a lifetime!!
**Please note—We know that most students will hope to bring in their
favorite book for their birthday, so if you wish for the book to return home,
simply email me or instruct your child to remember to take it home with them. **
Thank you for your participation!
